Job Description

Our client is an exciting new private equity company bridging the equity gap for brilliant businesses in often overlooked and underappreciated Backbone Sectors. They provide the investment and support to unlock exceptional returns. Founded by a team of experienced investors and entrepreneurs, they have developed a Partnership Capital approach which goes beyond just financial investment.

The Role

The Investment Associate will play an important role in all aspects of the investment process including managing the investment opportunities pipeline, deal transactions, portfolio management and investor management. The right candidate will be someone who is self-motivated and proactive in supporting various tasks outside of their primary responsibilities, to support the business as they rapidly scale. Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, and supporting the other Partners and team, this is an exceptional opportunity to gain deep experience in a unique investing role and play a prominent part in the success of the firm.

Investment Strategy

  • Work closely with the team on the ongoing development and refinement of the Investment Strategy and Thesis.
  • Lead on regular updates, research and analysis on core investment industries, to identify emerging trends.

Pipeline Development

  • Lead on sector deep dives, market mapping and market intelligence to identify potential investment opportunities in target markets.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, market dynamics, and competitive landscape of target sectors.

Financial Modelling and Analysis

  • Develop detailed financial models to assess the financial performance and projected returns of potential investments.
  • Perform sensitivity analysis and scenario modelling to evaluate various investment outcomes and risks.

Deal Evaluation and Execution

  • Prepare the initial analysis and due diligence of potential opportunities including the deal assessment framework, financial analysis, valuation, and risk assessment.
  • Support the team in structuring and negotiating investment transactions, including term sheet preparation.
  • Coordination of the end-to-end deal process including timeline management and preparation of internal updates.
  • Preparation of external investment material including the Investment Memo.
  • Support in the coordination of external service providers and stakeholders e.g. financial and non-financial due diligence, lawyers, accountants, external advisors.

Portfolio Management

  • Work closely with the portfolio management teams to monitor and track performance, including financial reporting, operational metrics and strategic initiatives.
  • Support in the development of value creation initiatives for the portfolio companies.

Relationship and Network Building

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the investment ecosystem, including co-investors (LPs), other investment funds, founders, and management teams of businesses in our target areas.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, networking events, and other relevant forums when required to stay informed of market trends, build relationships with industry professionals, and identify potential investment opportunities.

The Person

  • Proven experience in financial analysis and/or investment activity.
  • Commercial and financial acumen, with ability to both analyse the numbers and see beyond them.
  • Strong financial modelling and valuation skills, with high intermediate Excel proficiency.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a small team.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple workstream and projects with sufficient detail on each.
  • A natural collaborator who can effectively engage and support their team members and external stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, resilient, and high energy, someone who can thrive in a fast evolving ‘start up’ environment and be proactive in supporting the team outside of their primary responsibilities.

Terms

  • Salary of up to £60k (dependent on experience).
  • Full-time, working ideally 4 days in office (Chancery Lane). Will consider 3 in office, 2 from home for the right person.
  • 30 days holiday including bank holidays
  • Pension.
  • Eligibility to participate in All Staff Profit Sharing Scheme (eligibility for a share of profits generated by our investments after 12 months employment). T&Cs.
  • Laptop will be provided and an additional £500 work from home additional equipment allowance after 6 months of employment
  • Private Healthcare after 12 months’ service
  • Death in Service after 12 months’ service
  • 6 months maternity leave at 90% salary after 2 years of service.
