Job Description

Our client helps people explore remote destinations at the end of the earth, coordinating and organising life changing, environmentally responsible trips to Patagonia, Antarctica and the Artic. The team are a passionate, dedicated and spirited group of specialists who love the outdoors and care deeply about their destinations, committed to providing a sustainable future for the travel industry.

The Role

They are now looking for a Commercial Lawyer to support them with a three-month GDPR and Contracts Project.

Key Accountabilities

  • Customer Terms and Conditions - review and update the client’s UK/EU and US sets of T&Cs
    • Assess whether current practice by the Sales and Customer Service teams aligns with T&Cs and propose changes accordingly (to T&Cs and/or operational practice)
    • Review T&Cs for compliance with latest law and travel regulation and propose changes
    • Consider T&Cs from a commercial perspective (one eg - agent v principal v Package Travel Regulations) and propose changes that would improve the client’s risk v reward
  • GDPR
    • A review of the client’s current practices and documentation to ensure compliance with latest GDPR and Data Protection requirements
    • With regards to customers, employees, payment processes
  • Supplier Terms and Conditions
    • Review current client practice and suggest a consistent and workable approach to supplier Terms and Conditions, being mindful of the varying sizes and locations of our suppliers - and linking to agent v prinicipal considerations in first section above
    • Help to draft the same

The Terms

  • 3-month contract (may be scope to extend)
  • 2 days per week (can be worked flexibly across the week)
  • Remote with occasional travel to their office in Bristol
  • £70k FTE (prorated to the agreed hours)
  • 25 days holiday
  • Auto-enrol pension
