The Role
- Concept and creative design and original artwork for new ranges and individual products. For both TIC brand products and customer led projects.
- Creating original design, working from our artists images or from customer archives. Liaising with other Product Development (PD) staff, regarding critical path and development process from initial design through to costing, sampling and eventually production and delivery. Ensuring product designs are ready so products can launch in time for customer in dates.
- Liaise with internal team on the design and creation of a wide range of categories we produce: ceramics, kitchen textiles, children and baby wear, gifts, stationery, home soft furnishings and fashion accessories.
- Helping the sales team to establish strong customer relationships through developed and detailed communication: presenting concepts, implementing adaptations, confirming design details, being aware of delivery and costings for large accounts. Attending and participating in customer meetings, representing design team, presenting ideas.
- Being aware of the commercial positioning of new items from the point of initiation to ensure that costs, selling prices and margins hit company targets.
- Working closely with the wider team inc management/directors to ensure that everyone understands all work in progress developments and their associated critical path. Manage and update your project within our internal critical path planning. Work with the rest of the team, on progress developments and their associated critical path.
- Along with Product Developers review samples and approval of final gold seal samples on your projects. Exceptions to be reported to Directors. Working with our supply chain staff to hand over to help them sort shipment schedules, freight CONSOL’s, and vessel agendas etc.
- Liaising with or overseeing other staff on your projects and working with PD’s: Speaking directly to factories to negotiate costings, including set-ups. Costing sheets to effectively ‘land’ product ranges to ensure goods are bought to market at the correct retail price. Involved personally on the early stages or initial negotiations of development before handing over.
The Candidate
Our client is looking for a Product/Graphic designer with a creative and artistic flair. Experience in gifting would be highly advantageous.
The Terms
This is a 12 month maternity cover contract with flexibility a to whether it is worked across full or part time hours (the expectation is that the client will require a minimum of 21 hours per week). The role is based in the clients High Wycombe offices. A salary range of £33-40K FTE is available. Ideally this candidate will start in January 2025.
