Head of Finance, Consultancy, 4 days per wk, Hybrid (London & Remote), £60-80k FTE

This dynamic and growing start up is seeking an experienced Head of Finance to join their flexible team.

The Role

As the Head of Finance, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire finance function of the company. You will provide strategic financial insights, ensure robust financial reporting and controls, and drive the company’s financial performance to the next level as part of a growing scale up in the events industry. Currently this is a sole charge role with the company looking for someone and who can build the finance function as the business scales. We are looking for someone who has the potential to become a future Finance Director.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Strategy, Planning, Reporting & Analysis

• Partner with the Co-Founders and ELT to drive financial performance and support long term planning. Develop and implement financial strategies and processes that support the company’s overall objectives.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis, including scenario planning.
• Provide strategic recommendations to the Co-Founders.
• Manage cash flow planning and working capital requirements ensuring alignment with operational needs.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

• Lead the annual budgeting process and regular re-forecasting.
• Collaborate with department heads to develop and manage departmental budgets.
• Monitor and analyse financial performance against budgets and forecasts and provide recommendations on future actions needed.

Reporting, Internal Controls and Compliance:

• Produce monthly financial statements including cash flow, profit and loss, and balance sheet.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and company policies
• Manage annual statutory accounts process in conjunction with an outsourced accountancy firm.
• Manage all tax requirements of the company including VAT, corporation tax, PAYE, liaising with an outsourced accountancy firm as required.

  Operational Financial Management:

• Manage the credit control function of the business, ensuring timely payments, working closely with the partnerships team.
• Manage accounts payable and payroll. Payroll is outsourced to an external accountancy firm. Support on HR requirements as required such as employee contract management.
• Work with the operations team on reviewing supplier contracts, particularly venue contracts.
• Manage accounts mailbox handling any queries from partners or suppliers.

Requirements

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
• Be an experienced Head of Finance/Financial Controller capable of managing and building a finance function as the business scales.
• Experience in an SME, scale up environment. Experience in a PE environment is desirable.
• Exceptional analytical skills to provide information to support decisions.
• Strong communication skills and be capable of influencing across senior management.
• Resilient, adapt well to change and challenges.

The Terms

• 4 days per week (FT week is 38.7hrs)
• £60-80k FTE
• Hybrid (Remote/London)
• 25 days holiday (pro-rated) plus Bank Holidays. .  
• A day off on your Birthday.
