Legal Counsel, c.20 hrs/wk (remote with London meetings), c.120K FTE* + options
If you’re a commercial lawyer who enjoys combining strategic thinking with practical delivery — and you’re looking for a flexible role in a company that’s genuinely changing lives — we’d love to hear from you.
Our Client
Our client is a pioneering technology business that’s redefining safety in the sports and protection industry. As innovators in head protection, they develop life-saving products using state-of-the-art testing and manufacturing facilities — all driven by a mission to make the world a safer place.
Their dynamic, collaborative culture is built around shared values and a genuine sense of purpose. Every team member contributes to something meaningful, with the freedom to do their best work — wherever they’re based.
The Role
We’re looking for a proactive, commercially minded Legal Counsel to join this growing, IP-led business. This is a strategic yet hands-on role focused on managing and negotiating commercial agreements with licensees and suppliers, supporting business growth while safeguarding the company’s interests.
You’ll report directly to the CEO, working closely with senior leaders and external partners to deliver high-quality, scalable legal support that keeps momentum high and relationships strong.
It’s a role for someone who thrives on variety — combining contract negotiation, risk management and commercial strategy with the opportunity to shape best-practice processes as the business scales globally.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead commercial contracting activity, including supply, licence and collaboration agreements, NDAs and MOUs
- Negotiate creative, commercially sound outcomes that balance growth with risk management
- Collaborate with the CEO, COO and leadership team to align legal and commercial strategies
- Work closely with external IP counsel and legal advisors in the UK, US and Europe
- Develop scalable processes and frameworks to support future growth and efficiency
- Oversee key insurance policies (IP, product liability, cyber, etc.)
- Support the board and investors with legal and due diligence reporting
- Build trusted relationships across departments and with external partners
About You
You’ll be a qualified lawyer with strong experience in commercial contracting and IP-driven businesses, ideally within technology, manufacturing or consumer products. You’ll have the confidence to negotiate effectively, the judgement to balance legal rigour with business pragmatism, and the initiative to operate independently.
You will bring:
- Strong understanding of UK contract law (US familiarity desirable)
- Proven track record drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements
- Experience in licensing, supply and manufacturing contracts
- Excellent communication, influencing and problem-solving skills
- Sound understanding of risk management and commercial strategy
- Comfort working autonomously in a fast-paced, international environment
- A collaborative, positive and pragmatic approach
Experience with insurance, product liability or international contracting (particularly US/EU) would be an advantage.
What’s on Offer
- £100k-£120k FTE*, depending on experience
- Around 20 hours per week (part-time) with flexibility to grow
- Remote role, with regular meetings in London
- Share options in a growing, high-potential technology company
- 25 days’ holiday (FTE) + bank holidays
- Private healthcare
