Are you an experienced supply chain or fulfilment professional who enjoys keeping things moving, solving problems and making sure customers get what they need, when they need it?
Would you like to use your experience in a purpose-led organisation where commercial success and positive social and environmental impact go hand in hand?
If so, this could be an interesting opportunity to join a small and collaborative team as their Customer Fulfilment Manager.
Our Client
Our client is an established social enterprise with a strong focus on creating sustainable livelihoods for producers and building fairer, more effective supply chains.
They have developed their own consumer brand alongside supplying products to major UK retailers. Their approach is genuinely collaborative, with producers having a real voice in the organisation and its decision-making.
It's a small team, so this is a role where you'll have genuine visibility and influence, working closely with colleagues, customers, suppliers and logistics partners to make sure products get where they need to be.
The Role
Reporting to the Managing Director, you'll take ownership of the outbound supply chain and customer fulfilment process, from production planning through to dispatch and delivery across the UK and EU.
You'll work closely with co-packers, warehouses, 3PL providers, customers and internal colleagues to ensure orders are fulfilled accurately, efficiently and on time.
You'll be responsible for:
- Leading production and demand planning, ensuring stock levels are aligned with forecast requirements
- Managing outbound logistics with co-packers, warehouses and 3PL partners
- Overseeing dispatch, transport scheduling and relevant shipping documentation
- Maintaining accurate inventory and fulfilment data, including using systems such as Unleashed and Xero
- Monitoring and reporting on performance, including OTIF, stock accuracy and customer satisfaction
- Working with the wider supply planning team to ensure materials and production plans are aligned
- Ensuring fulfilment and invoicing processes meet relevant ethical and certification standards
- Building strong relationships with customers, suppliers and logistics partners
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency and reduce costs
- Supporting and developing colleagues and encouraging best practice across the team
This is a role for someone who is comfortable getting into the detail but also stepping back to see the bigger picture. You'll need to be commercially aware, analytical and proactive, with the confidence to spot an issue and work out how to resolve it rather than simply flagging it.
About You
You'll ideally have at least three years' experience in supply chain, logistics, fulfilment or a similar operational environment. Experience within FMCG or food would be useful, but it's not essential – we're happy to consider candidates from other sectors if you have the right transferable experience.
You'll need:
- Strong production planning, inventory management and fulfilment experience
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with a high level of attention to detail
- Confidence working with data and producing accurate reports – strong Excel skills are important
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- A proactive, practical approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
- Good commercial awareness, including an understanding of costs, margins and the impact of operational decisions
- The ability to work collaboratively within a small team and with external partners
- A genuine interest in the organisation's social and environmental purpose
Experience of Unleashed and Xero would be advantageous, as would a background in retail, food or a purpose-led organisation. However, the client is much more interested in finding someone with the right combination of commercial understanding, operational expertise and values than someone who simply ticks every sector box.
Most importantly, you'll understand that being a purpose-led organisation doesn't mean being any less commercial. You'll be comfortable balancing customer needs, operational efficiency and cost with the organisation's wider social and environmental objectives.
What's on Offer?
- 25 hours per week, ideally worked across 5 days, although 4 days may be considered
- £39,000–£44,000 pro rata
- Hybrid working, with 2 days per week in the East London office
- A highly flexible approach to working
- 29 days' holiday pro rata, plus bank holidays and your birthday
- Employer pension contribution of 6%, rising to 8% after 4 years
- Tastecard and rewards scheme
- A genuinely purposeful role within a small, collaborative team
- The opportunity to make a real contribution to how the organisation operates and develops
