Job Description

Our Client

Our client is a well-established, not-for-profit healthcare organisation delivering essential services to communities across the UK. With a strong sense of purpose and a commitment to continuous improvement, they are looking for an experienced finance professional to support their team during a period of development and change.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, improving financial processes and making a tangible difference within a purpose-driven organisation.

The Role

Working closely with the CFO, Deputy CFO and wider finance team, you'll take a leading role in delivering accurate, insightful financial reporting while identifying opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency.

This is a hands-on assignment combining management accounting, financial planning and process improvement. You'll help strengthen existing reporting, support budgeting and forecasting, and introduce sustainable improvements that will benefit the organisation long after your assignment ends.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Producing monthly management accounts and financial reports for senior management, the Executive Team and Board.
  • Reviewing and improving month-end processes, financial controls and reporting to deliver more accurate and timely information.
  • Supporting and potentially leading budget reviews and the annual budget-setting process, including workforce cost planning and financial modelling.
  • Developing management information, including cost improvement and contract profitability reporting, to support commercial and operational decision-making.
  • Creating and improving financial models, dashboards and automated reporting tools to reduce manual processes and improve efficiency.
  • Working closely with Finance Business Partners and operational teams to identify financial risks, opportunities and areas for improvement.
  • Documenting improved processes and providing training and handover to ensure the finance team can sustain the improvements.

The Candidate

We're looking for an experienced, fully qualified accountant who combines excellent technical skills with a practical, solutions-focused approach.

You'll bring:

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification, with significant post-qualification experience.
  • Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience, including preparing reports for senior stakeholders and Board-level audiences.
  • Excellent budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including experience working with large datasets, Power Query, Power Pivot and reporting automation.
  • A proven track record of improving financial processes, strengthening controls and reducing manual reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively and influence at all levels.

Experience within healthcare, the NHS or another complex, multi-service organisation would be an advantage, as would knowledge of cost improvement programmes and contract margin reporting.

Above all, you'll be proactive, adaptable and comfortable balancing day-to-day financial reporting with longer-term improvement projects. You'll enjoy getting things done and take pride in leaving behind better processes and a well-supported team.
