The Client
Our client is a private investment group established by two of the UK’s leading entrepreneurs. Specialising mainly in investing in the construction, logistics, freight, professional services, residential care and technology industry sectors, they acquire well-established, profitable unlisted companies where the existing shareholders are looking for a sale and/or exit.
The Role
They are now looking for an experienced Group Management Accountant, with the ambition and capability to scale into Group Finance Director.
You’ll see every side of M&A, building out systems and automation, as well as high-performance finance.
Key Accountabilities
- Take full day-to-day accountability for accounting, bookkeeping, and management accounts for several portfolio businesses (80% automated by our AI and system stack)
- Onboard new acquisitions into our group finance “machine”—implementing the client’s Finance Standard.
- Build and roll out live Power BI dashboards (per company and group consolidated)
- Lead on process, reporting and compliance. Hands-on initially, before then delegating once implemented.
- Embed yourself in each business, then move to a “Group” level, ensuring continuous improvement and best practice.
- Be the architect of the finance function: build, automate and delegate the day-to-day to the finance team as they scale.
The Candidate
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with UK construction sector experience (long-term contracts & CIS essential)
- An “Excel power user” Power Query, Pivot Tables, Power BI are your second language.
- Proficient using Xero
- Methodical, steady, and happy to work autonomously
- Efficient and Innovative
- Experience of people management
The Terms
- A salary of £50-65k (FTE) is on offer
- Hybrid setup - mainly WFH but with regular travel to group businesses around the South East and London office HQ.
- 20 hours per week, ideally across 5 days (flexible)
- 30 days holiday (inclusive of bank holidays) pro-rated, plus an extra day for your birthday.
