Part-Time Finance Assistant, 15 hrs/week, Growing Basingstoke Business, up to £30k fte*

Our Client

Our client is a well-known premium food manufacturer with a strong reputation for quality and innovation. With products stocked by leading retailers across the UK, the business is growing steadily and prides itself on maintaining a supportive, down-to-earth culture. They’re now looking for a part-time Finance Assistant to keep things running smoothly behind the scenes.

The Role

As Finance Assistant, you’ll play a key role in ensuring accurate, timely finance administration across the sales and purchase ledgers. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you’ll be the go-to person for day-to-day finance tasks and month-end reporting.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Sales Ledger

  • Posting and allocating cash to the general ledger
  • Reviewing overdue accounts and chasing outstanding payments
  • Working with key account managers on any issues
  • Liaising with major retailers to resolve payment or deduction queries
  • Managing sales orders on hold
  • Keeping the debtor ledger clean and up to date
  • Completing credit checks and gaining trade references for new accounts
  • Reviewing customer credit limits in line with risk and trading levels
  • Maintaining the promotional spend tracker
  • Updating customer pricing once approved

Purchase Ledger

  • Posting purchase invoices to the general ledger

Month-End

  • Preparing trade debtor ageing analysis with commentary and actions

About You

You’ll thrive in this role if you’re organised, numerate and confident working independently. You’ll bring:

  • Experience within a finance or accounts support role
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good communication skills, especially when dealing with customers or retailers
  • Confidence with finance systems and Excel

This role suits someone looking for 15 hours a week, ideally across a number of days or  2 full days

Terms

  • The role is seeking 15 hours per week (full-time is 37.5 hours)
  • A salary of up to £30k fte* (£12k actual salary for 15 hrs/wk)
  • Office-based in Basingstoke
  • Holiday 25 days pro rata
  • Preferred working days: Friday is essential.Second day ideally a Monday but this can be discussed at interview.
  • Hours will ideally split across the week but can be worked across two full days if desired
