Our client is a growing independent professional services firm bringing 25 years' of experience advising owner-managed businesses and a strong reputation for providing high-quality financial services. They are looking to bring the payroll function in-house and are looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to join the team.

The Role
You’ll be responsible for managing a portfolio of client payrolls from start to finish, ensuring everything is processed accurately, on time and in line with current legislation.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing regular monthly payrolls
- Processing starters, leavers, salary changes and other payroll adjustments
- Producing and issuing payslips, P45s and payroll reports
- Ensuring payroll records are accurate and up to date
- Reconciling HMRC accounts and dealing with HMRC queries
- Managing day-to-day client payroll queries and gathering information required for processing
- Completing Auto-Enrolment administration, including pension uploads, communications and reconciliations
- Process P11d through payroll
- Maintaining accurate client records and payroll documentation
- Keeping up to date with payroll procedures, legislation and processes
- Working closely with clients to resolve queries and ensure deadlines are met
- Willingness to supporting with additional duties e.g. bookkeeping requirements ( training can be provided)
You’ll be managing multiple client payrolls, so organisation, accuracy will be essential.
The Candidate
You’ll ideally have:
- Strong practical knowledge of payroll processes and statutory requirements, including PAYE, NIC, SSP and SMP
- Experience managing a portfolio of client payrolls
- Good knowledge of Auto-Enrolment and pension processes
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines
- Confidence communicating with clients and colleagues at all levels
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach, with the initiative to identify improvements
- Good IT skills and experience working with payroll systems
- A professional approach
Most importantly, you’ll enjoy taking ownership of your work, be comfortable working across multiple payrolls and take pride in delivering an accurate, reliable service to clients.
The Details
Location: Chatham/Hybrid
Hours: 10-15hrs week ( this could expand)
Salary: £35,000–£45,000 FTE (pro rata for hours worked), depending on experience
The office is located in Chatham and parking is available.
