Job Description

Senior Bookkeeper, Fully Remote (UK), £35- £45K, Full Time with excellent flexibility Permanent OR Immediate start / temp-to-perm option available

The Opportunity

Are you an experienced, highly organised bookkeeper who enjoys taking ownership, improving processes and working with a variety of businesses?

We're working with a growing fractional finance business that supports exciting consumer brands across the food and beverage, health and beauty sectors. They're looking for a confident, proactive finance professional to join their small, friendly team and help deliver an excellent service to their expanding portfolio of clients.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, thrives on responsibility and likes being part of a business where their contribution really matters.

The role offers genuine flexibility, with the freedom to organise your full-time working hours between 7am and 7pm, alongside the convenience of working entirely from home.

The business is keen to welcome someone as soon as possible and is therefore open to an immediate temporary start, with the potential to move into a permanent position. Equally, applications from candidates seeking a permanent opportunity with a longer notice period are very welcome.

The Role

Working as part of a close-knit finance team, you'll support a portfolio of growing consumer brands, ensuring their day-to-day financial operations run smoothly and efficiently.

Initially, there will be a particular focus on accounts receivable and credit control, but the role will develop into a broader bookkeeping and finance operations position.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing accounts receivable processes, including reconciling remittances, investigating deductions and maintaining accurate aged debtor information.
  • Liaising with customers and clients to resolve queries and ensure timely payments.
  • Raising sales invoices where required and supporting invoice finance arrangements.
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring transactions are correctly recorded and reconciled.
  • Managing client accounts inboxes and responding to finance-related enquiries.
  • Supporting month-end processes, including balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Preparing weekly reports and providing ad hoc financial analysis.
  • Acting as a key day-to-day contact for clients, building positive and professional working relationships.
  • Supporting the onboarding of new clients and working collaboratively with external accountants and finance teams.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes, streamline workflows and introduce efficiencies.

You'll be working across a varied client portfolio, so no two days will be quite the same!

About You

We're looking for a capable, confident finance professional who combines strong technical bookkeeping skills with excellent organisation, initiative and a genuine commitment to client service.

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • At least three years' hands-on bookkeeping or finance operations experience, with a good understanding of the wider accounting function.
  • Ideally AAT qualified (Level 3 or above), part-qualified ACCA/CIMA or equivalent, although candidates who are qualified by experience (QBE) with strong practical skills are equally welcome.
  • Strong accounts receivable and credit control experience, alongside broader bookkeeping knowledge.
  • Experience working in a small accountancy practice, outsourced finance function or smaller commercial business, where you've been used to taking ownership and managing varied responsibilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Confidence communicating with clients, colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach, with the initiative to work independently and make improvements.
  • Experience using Xero would be an advantage.
  • Experience working with FMCG, grocery, food and beverage or other consumer brands would be particularly welcome.

You'll be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, happy juggling the needs of several clients and able to take ownership without needing close supervision.

Experience gained in either accountancy practice or a commercial finance environment will be considered.

Above all, we're looking for someone who is organised, resourceful and enjoys getting things done.

The Benefits

Alongside an interesting and varied role, the business offers:

  • Salary of £35,000 – £45,000 depending on experience.
  • Fully remote working.
  • Excellent flexibility to arrange your working hours between 7am and 7pm.
  • Private healthcare.
  • 23 days' annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • An additional day off for your birthday.
  • The opportunity to work with a varied portfolio of ambitious, growing consumer brands.
  • A friendly, supportive small-team environment where your ideas and initiative will be valued.
