Part-time Senior Practice Accountant, 3 days/wk (or equiv), c. £66k fte, Tring

Salary: Circa £66,600 FTE (£40,000 for 3 days per week)

Our client is an established, family-run accountancy practice with a loyal and varied client base. They are looking for a confident and experienced accountant to take responsibility for a portfolio of clients, providing senior technical expertise and becoming a trusted point of contact for both clients and colleagues.

The Role

Working closely with the wider team, you'll take ownership of a portfolio of limited company and partnership clients, with responsibility for year-end accounts, corporation tax and senior client relationship management.

You'll also act as the senior lead for a significant, fast-growing client, providing technical oversight, tax planning advice and support through the external audit process.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing a portfolio of limited company and partnership clients, overseeing year-end accounts and tax requirements

• Reviewing accounts prepared by colleagues, ensuring accuracy and compliance

• Providing corporation tax advice and identifying tax-efficient solutions for clients

• Acting as senior relationship lead for a large, growing client, including supporting its external audit

• Reviewing VAT returns prepared by the wider team

• Supporting and supervising colleagues, helping to prioritise workloads and maintain high standards

• Building trusted client relationships, providing practical, commercially sound advice

About You

We're looking for an experienced accountant who can confidently take ownership of client relationships and provide senior technical guidance.

You'll bring:

• Significant experience within an accountancy practice environment

• Strong year-end accounts and corporation tax expertise, ideally including larger or audited companies

• Good working knowledge of VAT

• Experience reviewing the work of others and supporting junior colleagues

• Excellent client relationship skills, with a commercial and pragmatic approach

• The confidence to work independently and take responsibility for technical decisions

• Experience of R&D tax relief claims would be advantageous, but isn't essential
