Job Description

The Client

Our client is a vibrant specialist tax firm, which brings together a wealth of wide ranging experience and expertise in all areas of UK and US tax advice and compliance.

The successful candidate will be joining the UK private client tax team, which specialises in international private client tax matters, with a particular focus on the tax issues faced by foreign national, non-resident and expat taxpayers.

They also have a US team, which advises US persons on their often-extensive US tax filing responsibilities, and a UK corporate tax team, which assists companies and businesses with all aspects of their UK and international tax compliance, as well as advising on specialist tax areas such as mergers and acquisitions.

The Role

They are now looking for a motivated and skilled Accounts Preparer to join their growing team.

Key Accountabilities

  • Preparation of accounting working papers and draft statutory financial statements.
  • Preparation of draft corporation tax computations and returns.
  • Peer review of accounting and tax working papers when needed, with ability to make relevant and purposeful review points and comments.
  • Filing of company accounts and corporation tax returns, with knowledge of iXBRL.
  • Assist with company secretarial matters including annual confirmation statement preparation and filings, statutory register updates, overseas entity filings etc.
  • Assist with client ad-hoc tasks, bookkeeping, preparing accounting statements and reports, including management accounts, where needed.
  • Preparation of VAT returns for manager review and VAT return filings.
  • Liaise with accounts team and other internal teams (corporate tax team etc.).
  • Liaise with clients regularly as a point of contact to resolve queries.
  • Assist the UK private client tax team during particularly busy periods with personal tax return compliance.
  • Keep up to date with updates and changes in accounting standards and tax legislation.

The Candidate

  • Qualified or part-qualified AAT or ACA / ACCA
  • Previous practice experience that includes accounting, reporting and corporate tax work.
  • Awareness of accounting for basic and other financial instruments is useful.
  • Audit experience, including the incumbent knowledge of detailed working papers and proper documentation, is useful but not essential.
  • Strong analytical and logical skills with a passion for problem-solving.
