About Form the Future

Form the Future is a leading social enterprise, based in Cambridge, connecting young people with employers to build a strong, inclusive talent pipeline across the East of England. Working with schools, employers and regional partners including government, we ensure young people are prepared for their future careers while supporting employers to access the talent they need.

As we approach the end of our current core funding in 2027, we are seeking a senior commercial leader to help secure our next phase of growth and financial sustainability.

Role Purpose

To work alongside the CEO and senior leadership team to secure the organisation’s financial future by driving revenue growth, strengthening commercial strategy, and aligning business development, marketing and partnerships into a high-performing, results-driven growth engine.

Key Responsibilities

Revenue Growth & Pipeline

  • Develop and deliver a clear revenue plan
  • Build and convert a £700k–£1m funding and partnerships pipeline
  • Personally lead and close high-value deals (£50k–£150k+)

Commercial Strategy & Proposition

  • Refine and package core offers into clear, scalable propositions
  • Strengthen pricing, positioning and commercial models
  • Align offers to funder and employer demand

Leadership of BD & Marketing

  • Lead and coordinate Business Development and Marketing functions
  • Introduce strong pipeline management, forecasting and conversion discipline
  • Ensure marketing activity is directly aligned to revenue generation

Strategic Partnerships

  • Develop senior relationships with corporates, public sector and regional stakeholders
  • Support CEO on high-value opportunities and negotiations
  • Identify and unlock new funding routes and partnership models

Success Measures

By Month 3

  • Clear commercial plan and active pipeline in place
  • Refined propositions and aligned BD/marketing activity

By Month 6

  • £250k–£500k revenue secured or in advanced negotiation
  • Strong pipeline visibility and conversion tracking

By Month 9

  • £700k+ secured or highly probable
  • Repeatable, scalable commercial model established

Candidate Profile

Experience

  • Senior commercial leadership experience (Director level or equivalent)
  • Proven track record of securing significant revenue (£100k+ deals)
  • Experience in partnerships-led or complex stakeholder environments

Skills & Approach

  • Hands-on operator as well as strategic thinker
  • Strong relationship builder with credibility at senior level
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, mission-driven organisation
  • Knowledge of greater Cambridge or wider region is a plus

Contract & Remuneration

  • Fractional role: 2–3 days per week
  • Flexible working around goals
  • Hybrid working – mix of remote working and Cambridge office (1 day/wk)
  • Freelance with the opportunity to convert to permanent
  • £600-£1,000 per day (depending on experience)
  • Performance incentive: revenue-linked bonus if targets exceeded, to be agreed.
