The Role
Reporting to the Group Managing Director and sitting on the Leadership Team, this is a broad and influential role leading the Group’s legal function across a multinational environment.
You’ll act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing commercially focused legal guidance that enables growth while ensuring strong governance, compliance and risk management. Alongside leading and developing a small legal team, you’ll remain hands-on with complex legal matters and play a key role in supporting commercial and operational decision-making across the business.
Responsibilities will include:
- Acting as the principal legal adviser to the Group Managing Director, Board and leadership team
- Developing and implementing the Group-wide legal strategy
- Advising on commercial contracts, partnerships, corporate matters, regulatory issues and risk
- Supporting sales and commercial teams with pragmatic legal guidance that enables deal progression
- Leading negotiations on key customer and partner agreements
- Streamlining legal processes and creating practical contract frameworks and playbooks
- Overseeing legal risk, governance and compliance across multiple jurisdictions
- Supporting GDPR and wider data protection compliance
- Managing and developing a high-performing legal team
- Managing external legal counsel relationships and spend internationally
About You
You’ll be a qualified lawyer with significant post-qualification experience gained within a commercial or multinational environment. Importantly, you’ll combine strong legal expertise with commercial awareness and a collaborative, solutions-focused approach.
You’ll likely bring:
- Experience leading a legal function and managing legal professionals
- A strong commercial mindset and experience supporting sales-driven organisations
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the confidence to operate at executive level
- A pragmatic, business-focused approach to legal problem solving
- Experience across commercial contracts, governance, compliance and regulatory matters
- The ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on delivery
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- A collaborative leadership style with a genuine focus on developing people

- Salary circa £100k FTE*
- Full or part-time hours considered (minimum 3 days or equivalent)
